Cora and friends

Today Cora went to Wildflour, so she could hang out with her friends, Annabelle and Vera.  And, so momma could have some adult-time with Julie and Maggie.  This much fun is exhausting :)

Updated Following

Hey everyone,

So apparently the type of "following" we had enabled was not sending email notifications of updates...we've now added a "follow by email" option that you can click on the right side in order to receive email notifications.

2-month Physical

Today, Cora had her 2-month physical.  This included measuring her height (22.25 in), weight (11 lb 6 oz), and head circumference (15.25 in).  She's growing well! (http://medcalc.com/growth/).

Cora also had her first big set of shots, which was alarming for all involved.  However, after some initial SCREAM crying, Cora calmed right down.  She's now fast asleep...

Happy 2-month birthday!

Cora still hates tummy time, but is gradually tolerating it for longer stretches of time.  Way to go, 2-month birthday girl!  I like the first photo, because it shows one of Cora's favorite new "soothing tools" - her hand :)

Language First Steps

I stumbled onto a noise that Cora really likes, and found that she'll try to imitate it occasionally!  It's an amazing new feeling to see such a concrete sign of her engaging intelligently with us, and to see her first steps toward eventual speech.

Here are two clips of her smiling to the noise and making some new noises of her own in response.  In the first video, not much happens after about 40 seconds, so feel free to skip to the second video.

Cora's Big Adventure

Neither Josh or I were prepared for how dramatically our lives would change when Cora came along.  One of the biggest adjustments for me is that I can't simply *go* places anymore, without a lot of advanced planning and forethought.  This is largely due to the threat of the ever-looming MELTDOWN.  Cora and I do get out with the Cora-mobile quite a bit, but with a few exceptions (Lincoln Woods; the airport), she has only ventured within walking/strolling distance of our apartment.

Along these lines, today marked a big day for us in that Cora and I were able to spontaneously drive to a store and pick up a few items.  Sure, the store was Babies R Us (with this nice weather, I suddenly decided we NEEDED a sun hat for Miss Baby).  And, the distance was just a little over 10 miles.  Nevertheless, it was a big accomplishment for us.  An accomplishment -- I hope -- that forecasts many more momma/baby "adventures."

As you can see, Cora (mostly) behaved like a champ.

We bought a great sun hat!  Although apparently, these only come in bigger sizes... so, she'll need to grow into it.

After a jaunt in her stroller, Cora decided she was VERY sleepy.  Check out the sweet legwarmers in this photo, courtesy of the Star-Powers family.  I also could not resist buying this adorable cherry jumper.

Just a few more because she's so cute...

One thing I especially like about the jumper is that it buttons down the front.  SO much more practical than having to pull it over her big baby head, a la traditional onesies.

Argh!  Stop taking pictures of me, momma.

Outtakes from Aunt M's visit

By popular request (from the Pie), here are a few more from Aunt Maggie's visit and our ridiculous "photoshoots."  Watch out for the bloopers :)
